I am based in Dubai so I'll be flying from there to asian destinations over the next few months (one city at a time). I guess it seems its not a big deal after all and it's just a lottery....

I dont mind general turbulence but I heard flights to asia are sometimes subjected to severe turbulence and obviously anyone would try to avoid that if it's linked to a particular time of the year...
