On that note, I feel like contactless MC debit is more common than Visa debit, while Visa and AmEx are more common on the credit side. I'm not sure if there's any truth to that though.

Believe it or not, that is actually the default screen. Safeway actually makes the pin pads display a screen without the logos. I know this because I've booted a pin pad not connected to the network and I saw the same screen, which went away once it connected to the network and downloaded the "clean" screen.
The "clean" screen at least has the four virtual lights at the top.
I would think that they'd want the EMVco contactless logo to display, if nothing else. Then again, there's not much enforcement of terminal standards in general here.
