The issue is the length. Normal bags can measure a maximum of up to 90 x 75 x 43cm (as per BA.com). Sporting equipment can be up to 190 x 75 x 65cm, so I'm afraid the rug is a bit too long; don't know about BOD or LGW, but in LHR the out of gauge hoists are cleared to up to 2 meters of length; anything more than that risks getting stuck/ruined.
