Am I the only one to find that Cityflyer often just misses the mark with its catering? There definitely should have been jam. At breakfast time it's bulk loaded rather than being put on trays so perhaps someone at Newrest got a bit confused. Did you ask the cabin crew about the jam? It might have been hiding in one of the trolleys or even could have simply fallen off your tray. Having said that, there was a supply issue with jam a few weeks ago which resulted in marmalade being provided with the scone instead
