Or - AY could do what US carriers do as a standard practice. Due to my flying patterns, I ended up accidentally obtaining a Silver status with DL this year. More often than not with them, I have received a complementary upgrade with no questions asked. Then again, my flight times don't coincide with the busy periods for domestic North American travel, which could be one explaining factor.
