Brazil is the only country I know of that has/had an annual guide book (online now) devoted solely to describing 2000+ beaches from south to north along the coast.

Rio is unique in Brazil, however, with its landscape of mountains rising sharply out of the sea, but there are many other beautiful places to visit.
Most beaches, even very remote ones, have someone who has figured out how to get some cold beer out there to sell and maybe at least some fried fish to snack on.
