So from what I'm reading after September all these mad dog flights from DFW (IND, CVG, DTW, etc) will be canceled since they aren't going to keep the 'dogs in the air until the MAX problem is resolved?
The flights aren't going away. There is always a little more capacity in fall with some of the summer flying going away.
For example - DFW - STL is 8 flights tomorrow with 6x MD-80. 1x 319 and 1x 738 so 1,128 seats
DFW-STL on September 10th is still 8 flights 6x 738, 1x 319 and 1x CR9. That is a slight increase in # of seats per day.1,167 (depending on CRJ 900 version).
AA is still taking deliveries of A321's, and they have recently picked up some used 319's. Also, they had planned to retire some of the oldest 737-800's staring this year, I am guessing those plans are on hold until the Max is back in service. I am also guessing (hoping) that taking planes out of service for 737-800 OASIS conversions has also been put on hold. So while the MAX grounding is hurting AA, I am not sure they are too short on seats right now.
