Well, it is a prorate agreement, after all .

On a more serious note, though, I think they are only offering pro fares for these trips because it is not economically viable for either airline to offer deep discount fares as per their current arrangement. For HEL-CAI, for example, I assume it makes very little sense for AY to fill HEL-MXP seats for pax travelling to CAI at discount rates if 60% of the fare goes to Air Italy. Conversely, Air Italy does not want to open up availability in the cheap booking classes since they will only gate a prorated share of the fare.

(Obviously it is possible that they don't prorate based on the route length, but based on something else.)
