I'm not sure that's a plausible reason. It would suggest that AY's aircraft have luggage bins that are less robust than BA's or U2's.

Not all, but certainly Ryanair's most extreme drip pricing is for example, requiring an additional payment on top of the headline fare in order to take 55x40x20cm cabin baggage. Regulators in multiple jurisdictions are looking at this very closely.
