I just said one can make such a case, not that Finnair does.
In fact, the 8Kg limit has been there far longer than the light fares so it certainly did not arise from that, but it could be a contributing factor in preservation of low limits.
If I had to pick, I'd say the structural load limit is behind the weight restrictions. But I am just speculating, I have no insight into Finnair operations.
Aren't HBO (and all other fare decoupling pricing strategies) about misleading to some extent?
Oh, and by the way, don't get me wrong. I'd love higher weight limits on carry-on on AY flights. In fact, I'd prefer if my allowance was unrestricted in size, numbers and weight. It is just other people's bags I want restricted!
