I would also develop a list of items that were in the bag, since if not found after 21 days you can then claim for the bag and items as lost. You need to claim immediately on day 20 or 21

My bag went missing and on day 21 I filed a claim with my insurer. They came back and said I had to claim with the airline in the first instance. I claimed from them on day 26 and on day 28 they miraculously found my bag and returned it.
Do I still have a case to claim?
