I join WhiteThunder... why does this process exclude Canadians?

I'm a United 1K with Nexus... in other words, I have a biometric secure identity card, I"m known to the US government, I'm in and out ALL the time... CLEAR is a private company and not a division of the US government. I would think NEXUS should be sufficient for their needs? It's really frustrating.
