JL miles value now is considerably lowered, also. It used to be that with JL it was either you can book flights at normal price (which is a fraction, like 1/3 in J, of DL SlyMiles normal (lowest) price for the same route) or not at all, and always at 330 days out there are at least two J award seats released. Now it's now more so and with dynamic JL pricing it's almost as bad as DL is nowadays. DL always keeps descending and going lower and lower, and other airlines - UA may be first, but others even like JL follow sooner or later, keep following, sinking to new lows.
JMB (JAL Mileage Bank) is just a shadow of what it used to be until a few months ago, now sadly...having become too much like SlyMiles...even worse as connecting flights are not allowed, so to transit Japan and go to anywhere requires two separate tickets, which is the direction in which DL is clearly moving in, now often requiring one ticket to ICN and another ticketing for onwards connection, for example - refusing to book the full (regular and very common) itinerary in a single award ticket even with broken pricing, though so can be easily booked as one revenue ticket; same via TPE and other connecting airports also.
