And tonight...one day before I would have checked in, the reservation was resurrected. I called Marriott and canceled it for a fifth time (IIRC). They made some notes and assured me I wouldn't have a no show charge. The issue, I said, was dealing with unwinding a no show charge. Fingers crossed.
