It's my understanding Arne also wanted to remove phone numbers and rely exclusively on carrier pigeons ("our guests prefer that"), but the Board was concerned about bad publicity from the ASPCA.
Not sure why everyone is upset about not having an email address. You really need to get with the latest in technology. The FAX number for each property is listed on the website!
