Hi guys,
I am trying to utilize Amex promo to move some MR to avios to book tpe-hkg-mle route on cathay. Currently, I am contemplating whether to book it with economy (19,000/MR14,000) or business (51250/MR37000). Since hkg-mle falls under zone 4, business redemption isn't too attractive.
1. Do you think booking business considering both legs will be lie-flat seats be worth the 37k MR? Or, should I just book an economy seat and choose bulkhead seat (available at no extra cost)?
2. Also, I am arriving at tpe with EVA and hoping to through-check my luggage to mle if possible. If transit time in tpe is over 2hrs, do you think EVA will through-check the luggage without a problem?

1. CX seems to deploy A330 with lie-flat J and premium economy on all HKG-MLE flights in the past year, so in this case, pay extra for J is definitely worth it. I flew HKG-CNS (similar length as MLE) this year, and it was fantastic.

No.
Long Answer: Why do you think a Star Alliance airline will through-check your baggage to an
oneworld airline without any sort of codeshare or partnership? They don't even through-check bags for separate reservations on different Star Alliance airlines.
