Yes there is! Do a search on this topic in FT - I recall a thread that included a link to a company (travel agency, perhaps?) that gave away complimentary Emerald Club memberships, no strings attached. I completed the online application, got an instant memership, and even received a card in the mail shortly after! Good luck!
