I stayed here quite a few nights at the start of the year and have experienced a variety of rooms . In response to above , If you received a refurbished room ,then it was an upgrade unless a premium room category was booked .

On a 5K points stay the rooms are noted as "guest room" these are in the annex block across the road from the sea side blocks . I've never been on this side so I cant comment on these rooms .
"Guest room plus" is also sometimes in the 5K points category ,these are unrefurbished ground floor on the sea side blocks of the resort .
"Deluxe room" are unrefurbished garden view in the annex building .
"Deluxe room plus" are unrefurbished higher floor in the main sea side blocks . There are 5 of these blocks with numbers 4 and 5 being closest to the sea .
"Premium rooms" are recently refurbished sea side blocks 1 (2018) and 4 (2019) , still average sized rooms but definitely a step up from the unrefurbished ones . Note there are no baths in these rooms
"Diplomatic suites" are slightly larger but still junior suites they are all in the seafront blocks.Only block 4 will have refurbished versions of this room type . These have a bath and separate shower .
"Family suites " are in the annex building so I have not seen this type
" Queen corner suites " are refurbished ,larger ,triangular shaped junior suites in Block 1 . Note they have very small balconies. They have large bathrooms with a circular tub .
. The "Royal Suites" are true one bedroom suites basically a corner suite and room joined I think they're only ground floor . They have large bathrooms with circular jacuzzi tubs . Although they're in block 1 they remain unrefurbished but they're not in bad shape .

As a HH Diamond I've had all room types issued in the Sea side blocks . They usually put me in a Diplomatic suite but since the refurbishment started I prefer the premium standard rooms . Followed by the Corner Suite then Royal Suite

Breakfast is pretty standard buffet with made to order eggs and falafel being the freshest option . I've not had the buffet dinner but room service is very reasonable (Main dish about £4GBP Mar 2019) .
As of now seaside blocks should be 50% refurbished . They stop the works from July to January so there should be no works noise problems
