Uktraveller’s suggestion is excellent and the one I would have made. The only thing I’d point out is that you won’t be able to select a seat for free “for your wife” in J as the seat privileges are I believe only when travelling in the same cabin. Note that had you upgraded yourself, neither your wife nor your children would benefitted so it would be worse!
