I was once told that what they show on the website are "offers" which in their parlance are different than "comps."
Some of the "offers" I've seen are buffet coupons, $10 slot dollars if I pay $10, and "Your Room offer." When I log in to make a reservation, sometimes the "Room offer" will show up with free nights.
Orleans also has a lot of promotions. Wednesdays if you get one tier credit (and are over 50) you get a free breakfast or lunch buffet, usually a $10 match play coupon, and a few drawings. Thursdays if you get 20 tier credits you get a present, which is occasionally useful and occasionally useless. I haven't actually paid for a buffet there in over a year.
I totally get that I'm not a high roller by anyone's definition, and I don't even care that much about the back-end comps.
Mostly my question was if anyone has insights into how their system works, and most particularly, about the free night "offers." If someone told me "Oh, I used to play there a lot and got 1000 tier credits a month and got 4 free nights a month, but then I cut way back and now I get zero night (or whatever)" I would know that the free night "offers" are tied closely to play. But I have absolutely no idea. If I stayed at Marriott or Hilton that many nights a year I'd probably be in their next-to-top tier. But I realize that casinos and chains aren't the same.
