Situation: 1st First LHR-HKG scheduled for 28th August. Part of multi country, multi carrier trip, booked on different PNR's / tickets. Booked using Amex 2-4-1 for the BA sectors ( LHR-HKG / BKK-LHR)

Query: With onward connections/ limited time in some locations flying on initial leg is quite important although there is some contingency. If strike was called on the OB leg can we still demand rebooking( subject to space) into F on another carrier ie CX? As 2-4-1's are restricted to BA Metal this is where my concern creeps in. Are they allowed to deny rebooking onto another carrier due to the payment method or would I be protected the same as anyone else? My feeling is yes as it's in no way my fault but a little clarity would be greatly appreciated.

I had issues with them rebooking me onto AY/ N7 after they canx the LED route. I got my way but not without a bit of a fight but there was no voucher at play there. I'm more than happy to play hard ball with them( if needed) but obviously doing so from a position backed by knowledge/ fact is the way to do such things.
The strike isn’t confirmed yet let alone ba’s rebooking guidelines. Unfortunately, like the rest of us, you’ll just have to wait and see what is proposed if the strike goes ahead either to passengers in general or to those whose flights are cancelled and if there are restrictions/limitations.

in theory, your flights are confirmed so if ba cancels, rebooking options could include full refund, rebooking at the earliest opportunity or rebooking at a later date. In practice, options for rebooking at the earliest opportunity in F to HKG are very limited: cx f is often full and cabin is tiny (6 seats) compared to ba’s also often full ones, and frankly, as a 2-for-1 you are likely to be ba’s least worry because if they need to refund your ticket or offer downgrade payment bluntly, you will be the cheapest people in the cabin to pick so I’d say your chances of getting cx f are very low unless maybe you are Prem.
