I wasn’t so impressed with Cap Juluca a decade ago when we visited while on a cruise, and your review doesn’t make me at all yearn to go there now. Just not special enough to warrant a trek from the West Coast, and likely only good enough for those from the East Coast or more central N America.
Turks and Caicos still wins for me if we’re ever going to try beyond Puerto Rico’s spectacular StR Bahia Beach and/or RC Reserve Dorado. But Mexico is so much closer and so often so much less expensive...and too often still as nice or nicer.
My pleasure!
I definitely don't think it's for everyone and it's not a "no brainer" place. But for those coming from the East Coast (especially if you've already been to Turks), I think it can still make a lot of sense. The rates here can be very competitive as well.
You can often get entry rooms (with oceanfront view and pretty much steps to the beach) for $700++/night during Summer season. That's not too bad! The public areas are really lovely and well done.
While my brief review above didn't paint a stellar picture, I also think I'm a bit overly critical about resorts, sometimes. Let's call it "Occupational Hazard"? Overall, I did enjoy my visit and very glad I went. But I will likely keep going returning to Turks until the boat transfer to Anguilla is no longer necessary.
