I'm posting this question here in the hopes that one of our Hawaii-based frequent flyers might have experience with this situation:

I am flying HNL-EWR-Europe in J. I have a very long daytime (i.e., not overnight) connection at EWR. UA's stated luggage check-through policy is they do it for connections less than 13 hours. My connection is more than that.

Anyone have experience with local UA checkin agents at HNL--will they check the bag through? (Last time I was in this predicament was a long layover in DFW and the AA agent went the extra mile to through-check.)
