How strict are partners about *G lounge access? With wife and minor child

My reading of the *G lounge access rules say that if you're *G and your spouse is not and your child is 2+ years old, you don't all get lounge access when flying internationally and presenting the *G credentials. Is this accurate? Are there any partners who are more permissive about bringing a kid? (I'm thinking in particular about LH as we have a bunch of intl LH hub travel coming up soon.)

This year I am a *G, my wife is not, and our two-year-old son is also not *G. I have almost, but not quite, wrapped up 1MM flying -- things got kind of slow post baby. This is new territory for us in a lot of ways (she had been 1K for something like a decade and he has mostly been a lap infant until recently). But it's just now coming to me that the lounge access landscape changed at age 2 (the *G lounge policies are quite clear that each *G entrant gets one guest and that anyone over age 2 counts as a guest).
