But all of the other 4 and 5 star hotels will be charging sky high prices too with major events.

e.g. a 4 night stay Thu Oct 10th - Mon 14th average (pre-tax) rates: Four Seasons w/ Deluxe View King $1,471 / night. Ritz Carlton Guest King $873 / night. St, Regis Grand Deluxe $1,284 / night. Hyatt Regency King Bay View Balcony $553 / night; Loews Superior Bay View Queen $899 / night. Hyatt Place King $849 / night. Palace Hotel Cityscape King $1,073 / night. W Hotel Fabulous Double City View $691 / night. etc. Even the Courtyard Marriott wants $500 per night for an entry-level room.

FWIW Ritz Paris and the modern day RItz Carlton chain are pretty much unrelated other than the name connection coming from César Ritz. It's not like Marriott has any influence over Ritz Paris.
