Every flight where I’m in an aisle seat I get whacked in the head with a backpack by a passenger boarding who turns around to make a comment to the person behind him/her. This happens as more and more people are not checking bags and the backpacks are stuffed to the gills. And BTW, It occurs when I’m not hanging over in the aisle either.
Yes, whenever I'm in an aisle seat I find myself subconsciously holding my aisle-side arm up in front of my face in a defensive position while boarding is taking place. I've had travel companions snicker at it, but it has saved me a black eye or two from those blasted backpacks!
