But you only get your original class EQM/EQD at best (AA sometimes gets confused if you upgrade from PE).

I have never not received the EQMs and EQDs from the upgraded class after an AUP – so, at best, you will receive the EQMs for PE instead of E. However, it may make a difference whether you are on a BA flight number or an AA codeshare (I have always been on BA flight numbers when I've done this).

And, definitely the most reliable conclusion is that you should not expect to receive upgraded EQMs, and it is not sensible to call in and complain if you don't get as many as you would like.

But you may well be pleasantly surprised.
