Not sure if this is worthy of its own thread, but it looks like that since the credit card bonus went away a few months ago, the kiosks will only allow you to add value via Credit Card in increments of $0.05. I found a MetroCard with $0.09 remaining on it and the only way I was able to round off the balance was by paying in pennies to a Station Agent.
The machines have always only allowed 5 cent increments AFAIK. That's why the bonus calculators used to be so important so you can find ways to avoid having pennies left over.
