AA Miles on Qantas Mileage Run

I posted this thread in the Qantas forum already. I thought I would post it here too since it relates to mileage run.

I am going to do a mileage run from LAX to Cairns in mid Novemeber. The purpose of this trip is to earn enough miles (around 35000 miles) to maintain my AA Platinum status and to sample different Oneworld airlines. I did my research and found out a special fare from Qantas. The fare basis is HKR1 and allows me to earn 100% AA miles. The fare lets me fly from any QF or QF code share destinations in Europe to Australia. Here is my itineary:
FCO-HKG-SYD-CNS; CNS-SYD-SIN-LHR-FCO
I have put a courtesy hold on this itineary and the ticket costs $2156.62 with tax. I know it is a pretty good deal for a H class fare, but it is still a bit pricy for me considering I have to buy a separate ticket from LAX or SNA to FCO for another $671 on AA. Is there anyway I can get a better price than that?
I tried travel agencies and consolidators, but they mostly deal with US origin flights. I also tried Qantas UK site, but there is no way I can tell the fare class. Can anyone give me some direction? Am I too early to buy the ticket now or will I get a better deal in the fall? Thanks in advance!
