Have only been to the Big Island (KOA / HLO), but currently looking at going back there rather than visit any of the others. As the name implies, it's considerably bigger than the other islands, so if exploring the place is your thing, there are more options there. I have a feeling it's also a lot less touristy and less overrun than Hawaii (HNL).
Just for the avoidance of confusion - The Big Island is Hawaii, HNL is on Oahu.
Oahu has a lot of attractions but none of them are in Honolulu itself.
I'm a big Hawaii fan, but Maui is a good family proposition as well.
