IIRC - I believe I had used OTAs only 4 times for air travel. In those 4 times, 2 of them were booked which I had no control. Another 2 of them were associated with the MR deals found here, which required the use of specific OTAs to obtained the deal. This is one of those:

[FARE GONE] Expedia.ca $300 coupon on packages (new terms)

I plainly reject the use of OTA if the arrangement can be made with the airlines directly.

The problem with OTA is not everything is clear as it seems. For example, in the recent BR strike that has just ended days ago, BR has made it very clear that BR will handle problems only when your tickets were issued by BR.

In fact, I had worried about my very first OTA booking as I was not sure if the ticket was FFP-eligible, which was an AC ticket for SFO-YVR-HKG for $462.50. But it was and my account was properly credited.
