It is solely AC's responsibility to rebook you should that become necessary. However, nothing prevents UA from doing so. As a 1K, perhaps the chances are better.

I would nonetheless start with AC and leave UA as a last resort if you can't obtain satisfaction from AC.

For what it is worth, your flight has not been cancelled, but rather delayed. Might as well hang on at this point.
