IHG does a very much better job at making Club Lounges an exclusive and rather sophisticated space (so did the Banyan) - compared to Marriott which apparently caters to those that pretty much only want to fill up with free junk.
I can only report my experiences and I'm not a consumer of junk food nor have I seen any junk food served at the MMQP. In fact, I enjoy mostly Indian, Thai, and middle eastern selections at breakfast - food unique to breakfast spreads in Bangkok.
True, the IC Club is very sophisticated but lacks space and when they run out room, they ask you to come back later! My experience at the MMQP (
50 nights so far) differs considerably than yours. I found MMQP happy hour food very satisfying, food quality great, and they were very generous!
