This has been the most pleasant July weather-wise in recent memory. Part of it is that the tsuyuake (end of rainy season) is running late this year, and it usually gets super hot and muggy after tsuyuake. But even accounting for that, it has been quite mild thus far.
I'd imagine that early Sept will be a different story, though. Hokkaido will certainly be much more likely to be less hot, although it can also get quite hot up here also.
I'm not kidding when I say that me and the missus have talked about going back to Japan this September. We've been seeing airfare deals pop up and right now, it feels like 104 degrees at 1pm here and it's not even August. Between the muggy crap here and wanting to go back to Japan anyway, it looks like we are headed back maybe for a week to 10 days this time.
We are debating Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka. We need to escape and what better places. I'm not ready to try Hokkaido....yet.
