The news story was clear that it would not override the pilots decisions and control input (the 737max problem, so they had to fight the computer controlled actions), just that in some configurations at low altitude it could cause a pitch-up problem. At a time of high work load presumably any extra pressure is unwelcome.
I gathered the advisory was to make CoG adjustments to avoid this until the patch is done, the configuration will be known before take-off and any potential problem can be controlled and removed.
