It happens. When I worked in the ramp tower at RDU, I saw lighting take a chunk out of a taxiway. Hopefully they can get it fixed quickly. I guess it depends how bad it is.
Looks like they've moved departures to 27L and are using 28 for arrivals.
There was a few months back in the early 2000's, when 27L was being rebuilt that we landed and departed taxiway Romeo. Very narrow, and very close to the radar.
