Back to reality... but going to paradise ! Part 1 MH Economy class PEN-KUL

In Penang, I was happy to be able to meet some friends I made earlier while I was in Vietnam and enjoyed some local delights. But time flies when you have fun and I was back at the airport barely 48 hours after I landed…

My next destination was Bali and I took advantage of another promotional MH fare ex-Malaysia to get to DPS. But this time, this was at the back of the bus, with another night in the transit airport of Kuala Lumpur… I paid 135 Euros for this one way trip.

Checking my luggage in PEN airport was a quick formality using the priority lane, such as clearing the domestic security. I was inside the only lounge of the domestic terminal, the Plaza Premium lounge within minutes.
This lounge is quite small but comfortable and has a decent food and beverage offering, with a couple of hot dishes, buns and also cooked to order noodles available. Wifi was complimentary and restrooms were available within the lounge.

Plaza premium domestic lounge PEN, also a Priority pass lounge

yummy...

The lounge was not very busy on this saturday night but I can imagine it being overcapacity at peak hours.

After 45 minutes inside the lounge, I was ready to head for the boarding gate of the last Malaysia airlines flight of the day to Kuala Lumpur.

9M-MXY Boeing 737-800 in PEN

Boarding started at 20:05, with orders of priority.

Malaysia Airlines MH1165 - December 15th 2018
Penang PEN - 20:25
Kuala Lumpur KUL - 21:30
Boeing 737-800 - 9M-MXY - Seat 05C, Aisle seat, Economy class.

This time... My seat is going to be red for this short flight...

The flight was very uneventful, with this first row seat comfortable enough for this short flight. It was full flight with a big group of teenagers (From the US I believe) split across the cabin.
The crew put a lot of attention ensuring all mobile devices were completely off, and asked me to show evidence of this. I find it ridiculous nowadays but this seems to be a common thing in Malaysia…
The service consisted in a cup of orange nectar (did not take it) and the classical roasted peanuts.

Classic MH...

We landed in KUL at 21:20, at reached our domestic gate a few minutes later.

Exit immigration took no time, and I almost disturbed the immigration agent who was watching the football game between Malaysia and Vietnam (I think…) on his mobile phone.

After a short airtrain ride to the satellite terminal, I went to the First class lounge for a late snack. I have the feeling I lived in this lounge over the few last months !

Emigration was very fast to clear !

Dinner menu MH FIrst lounge KUL

Starting with a smooth glass of St Veran

Smoked fish starter - good !

Caesar salad

That's going to be my dinner !

I opted for the caesar salad with the smoked sea food sensation and it was fine, also the seafood portion was very small. I added to it a glass of White St Veran and finished with a slice of chocolate tart, which was alright.

Finishing with a sweet touch...

I was then ready for a good night sleep at the Sama-Sama transit hotel, where I got a bigger room than usual that time ! (The first several rooms in the hallway seem to be bigger than the ones in the back)
