But more importantly, you should spend some more time researching the general idea of credit card partnerships and frequent flyer programmes. The fact that United and Air Canada are both Star Alliance members doesn't mean at all that Chase is obliged to partner with Air Canada / Aeroplan. Chase has specific partners, and you need to work with those programmes.

Moreover, once you earn miles with United, say, you can't then transfer those miles to Air Canada or Lufthansa or any other Star Alliance partner. It just doesn't work that way.
Thanks for taking the time to reply!

1. I understand that I cannot transfer from one airline to another. I was not interested in doing this, but rather was curious why the same flight costs 55k points thru Aero, and 70k thru united. 15k points extra is a lot when you pay per person, per trip. So for a round trip to Europe, 4 people for instance, you would end up spending 120k points more. That's quite a lot!

2. I understand that Chase is not obligated to work with them, again was not my point.

3. I am not sure what extra fees you mean, because when I click to checkout, Aero says 55k + I think it was like 7 CAD in fees.. so it seems to be a lot more expensive thru United.
