Oh! Haha! Yes these do need bolts to cover up the bill slot if they are the older models. All the credit card does is trick the machine into thinking that coins were inserted. Newer machines use a protocol called MDB and doesn't need to "trick the machine" at all, rather, the machine knows its a credit card reader.
These were combined card/bill accepters. If I get a chance, I'll get a photo at some point this weekend.
