I would have also asked the driver to cancel the ride, because if the driver wanted to engage in fraud, s/he could have shown up to the actual pick-up spot and then dinged the passenger with a cancellation fee for not being there. Unfortunately, there's a lot of Uber/Lyft fraud at airports.
