I just got the following reply to my inquiry concering the two suspicious messages that I received yesterday:

If you recently received a “test” e-mail that included your personal Mileage Plus® profile, please be assured that all this information is safe with United and has not been shared with a third party. The e-mail was inadvertently released as we were performing a test of future system enhancements.

Hmm... United obviously does not care too much about the spelling used in internal communication.
