Not withstanding the already mentioned fact about AA not taking bags for layovers >12 hours.
Seems to me you were misguided by TSA staff here; fully outside of BA and AA's control.
I'd say address your complaint to: TSA gave me incorrect airport information c/o TSA Complaints, Washingto... but we know they wouldn't read it.
