Quick summary of our LA weekend:

Dinner at 2* Providence: very good, but a few surprising misses. Portion sizes were a bit too large. Last 2 protein courses were disappointing: a way too briney fish with no balancing acidity (except for the excellent wine pairing), and a disappointing A5 Wagyu that paired poorly with a too weak Cab Franc. Otherwise, all other courses were delicious and impressive, and every other wine pairing was spot on. With as many tables as they have, I don't see a 3rd star coming any time soon. A very good 2* experience. But I definitely still prefer 2* Somni (and 2* Vespertine).

Brunch at 1* AOC: wowzers. So yummy. A new fave for LA. The fried chicken and waffle is as amazing as I'd heard.

Dinner at 1* Osteria Mozza: excellent. Worth the price of admission. The Osteria side is far nicer (and cooler) than the Pizzeria side on which they tried to seat us, but they moved us to the Osteria since I complained about the lack of air con. The food was delicious. The burrata was sublime. The pastas were wonderful. The pork chop is among the top 3 I've ever had. Can't wait to try again.
