I used to wait until after 6 months...and closer to 11, but then after reading some posts here, I started cancelling at about 3 months or so...to let the accounts clear out of all charges and payments. My current process is: finish spend on card, pay-off last month with charges, IM to reduce limit to $2000, cancel. I started cancelling sooner when the cards started to pile up.
