Called customer service. The operator had to check with their own support and put on me hold for a while. They couldn't find the problem, but they told me just to present a copy of the confirmation email when picking up the car, and then they will apply the original price as in the confirmation email.
Thanks for following up - no disrespect to the customer service (which has been great to me so far) but sometimes you get different answers from different operators, especially if it's a tricky question, and usually that's all I have
Definitely be taking a copy of the email along with me, will report back when I've completed the rental just for future reference.
