Definitely not a typo. It's just a bit more streamlined version of the exact math you did above. Let's just think of as a factoring problem.

Your math was 4892 + 5870 = 10762

Basically 4892 + 4892*1.2 = 10762

4892(1 + 1.2) = 10762

4892*(2.2) = 10762
