I've used FHR far more than LHW and have had good experiences with FHR upgrades. On the few occasions when using LHW I've had good experiences, too, but have found that it works better to make your reservations over the phone rather than on the LHW website. I think the reason is that when you make your reservation over the phone with LHW, they send a fax directly to the hotel with bright lights around the fact that you are an LC member entitled to all of the LC benefits, whereas when you do it on the website, everything is handled electronically and the LC membership doesn't get the same prominance.

In terms of double upgrades, it does happen occasionally, but I can't say that it does with one more than the other.
