I think it's clear they've had some IT problems with this promotion and are aware of that, and that they, sensibly, are not going to try to fix things up by hand as and when people complain, but are instead planning on a bulk process that will award everyone their missing points. Worst case, maybe only after the promotion closes...
EDIT: Well, actually, worst case, the process they apply still messes up leaving many of us having to apply for missing points - but hopefully it won't come to that.
