I agree with visiting the Big Island . I am a BIG fan of Maui but Ohau is similar once you get out of Honolulu. And I would rent a car in Waikiki . If you are using points at HR Waikiki then parking is free, I think???? And the island is beautiful!!!!!!!!
The airlines we use are either Hawaiian or Mokulele airlines.
If you have heaps of points, and you really want to go to Maui via OGG , look at Andaz. It is beautiful!!!
