We are going to Hawaii for the first time next March for our 5th anniversary. We are going to stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa or Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa for our entire 15 day trip and do island hoppers staying overnight but never checking out of our main hotel.

The Maui property looks a lot nicer but we can't fly ORD/OGG NS in the business class of a 788 so that's one strike against Maui.

I see that if you pay with points and are a Discoverist ( which we are) or better they "should" waive the resort fees, is this true as I contacted The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort on FB and they didn't seem to practice that policy.

Any advice ( Maui vs Waikiki Hyatt ) etc would be appreciated. Also if there is a more appropriate thread that I should have posted in feel free to move this post. Thanks
